Here at the Chamber we work to make sure that we actively support the growth of your business. We do this by offering key programs that help with professional and leadership development. We also provide you with direct access to local and state government so that you can vocalize what your needs are as a Mills County Business Owner.
Leadership Mills County: Accepting applications now: This program is an eight month commitment that hones leadership skills in current Chamber Members. It also allows them to learn the history and governance of Mills County, and discover how they can become more involved in our communities. During the program participants will become knowledgeable about local concerns and resources, extend their professional network, and gain valuable project and team leadership experience through an introduction to the various aspects of developing and maintaining a vibrant community and establishing dialogue with a wide range of community leaders.
Legislative Updates: Each spring we host two legislative updates, where state and local officials come and provide updates to the different pieces of legislation that they are working on. This is a great opportunity for businesses owner to ask questions and share their stories about what they are dealing with as a business owner.
Lunch and Learns: Each Lunch and Learn will be held from 11:30-1:00pm. The 2019/2020 lunch and learn schedule is as follows:
November 19th, 2019: Small Business Succession Planning: The key to a thriving community is the businesses that reside in within it. However, there comes a time where each business owner, thinks about what’s next. Whether you are ready to retire, or move on to your next venture, this lunch and learn will provide you with practical advice on how to plan effectively for your next chapter. This will be a panel discussion with experts from the Small Business Development Center, Glenwood Area Chamber of Commerce, Mills County Economic Development Foundation, and Malvern Bank. Join us on November 19th 11:30-1:00 pm for lunch, Catered by Classic Cafe and learning.
February 5th, 2020: The Creative Evolution of your Business Plan: When you began your business what was you vision? Is your business becoming what you thought it would be? With any business there is a process it goes through from concept to implementation to scaling up. Join us for a conversation with successful business owners about how they used their business plan to guide them.
April 22nd, 2020: Nonprofit Boards: How to be effective and how they help your business:art of being a successful business owner entails giving back to the community you live in. This lunch and learn shares ways that you can utilize community service as a tool to market your business and network. It also will walk through what does it actually mean to be a board member of a local nonprofit.
June 3rd, 2020: To Use Digital or Not to Use Digital: Connecting with Others Using Mindful Communication Practices: Explanation to come
