October 6th at Keg Creek Brewing Company in Glenwood starting at 6 pm – The German Heritage Society of Omaha will be tapping the official “Oktoberfest Beer” at 6 pm with music, cash bar, traditional German food served from 6-8 pm or until gone…All net proceeds from this event go the help with the cost of planting the beautiful hanging flower baskets in our community.

We have some fun and exciting things planned for Glenwood! We are hoping that each business on the Square and several around town will join us in doing a “Pink Out Window Display”! Displays should be done as soon as possible in order to collect the most votes! Voting will take place October 9th-16th. The top three winners will be announced after reading the proclamation on the 19th of October at 6:00pm. To vote for your favorite, vote online on the “Glenwood Area Chamber of Commerce” Facebook page. There will be prizes for the top three!

Free Breast Health Screening – Tuesday, October 5th
o Screening to be held at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital
o Hours of the screening are 5:00pm-7:00pm
o Walk-ins are welcome
Mayoral Proclamation – Thursday, October 19th
o 6:00pm at the Vine Street Cellar with program, refreshments and cash bar
We are excited to share we have a lot going on the month of October to promote the Breast Health Center through our efforts with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Methodist Jennie Edmundson Breast Health Center is the only Nationally Accredited Breast Health Center in Southwest Iowa. Thanks to the support of Mayor Tackett, who has proclaimed October 19th as Methodist Jennie Edmundson Breast Health Center Day we will launch a City-Wide Pink Out effort to help promote the importance of early detection and yearly screenings.
