Mobile Museum from The University of Iowa

We are fortunate in Glenwood to have the Mobile Museum here in Mills County at the parking lot of the Glenwood Lake Park on Friday, May 9 from 3-7 PM.  I will be here for the one day only so mark your calendars and plan your free visit.  We are excited to have it and hope that many people will enjoy it.

The Mobile Museum includes three sections:  Glenwood, Iowa’s Ancient Agriculturists tells the story of the Glenwood Culture ( Native American) centered in the Loess Hills and their connections to the Iowa landscape through agriculture; Iowa’s Ice Age Giants explores the great mammals that roamed the state during the last ice age and their sudden extinciton; and Cornerstones focuses on the founding of Iowa and writing of its constitution, the building of the Old Capitol building, and the creation of the University of Iowa.

Please join the Glenwood Golf Course in celebrating 50 Years ~ The Chamber After Hours will be on Thursday, May 22nd from 5:30-8:00 PM.  They will be firing up the grill with Brats, burgers and hot dogs,  free will donation.  One free drink ticket will be given out to guests and additional cash drinks will be available.

at 21193 Hwy. 34, Mills County Mile Hill Lake Scenic Overlook on the Loess Hills Scenic Byway.

Governor Terry Branstad, Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds, IDOT Director Paul Trombino as well as other IDOT staff, and Mills County Conservation staff, business members and local citizens of our communities are invited to attend to welcome them to Mills County.

The program will last for about 30 minutes and then the Governor will be here as part of his Town Hall visit until approximately 1:00 p.m.
