Project Recovery Iowa

Project Recovery Iowa assists individuals and communities in recovering from the challenging effects of disaster through the provision of community-based outreach and counseling services.  The goals of the program are to:

  • Reach people affected by disasters through face-to-face outreach to shelters, homes and other locations
  • Assess the emotional needs of people and make referrals to traditional behavioral health services when necessary
  • Identify tangible needs and link people to community resources and disaster relief services
  • Work with local stakeholders to promote community resilience and recovery

Project Recovery Iowa is a FEMA funded grant administered through the Iowa Department of Human Services.  The Department of Human Services has contracted with Heartland Family Services, Waubonsie Mental Health Center and Iowa State University’s Iowa Concern line to operate Project Recovery Iowa services.

If you would like materials to give to your population base, make referrals to the program and know of people who would benefit from these services, please contact Project Recovery Iowa via the Iowa Concern line by calling 800-447-1985.  The website for additional information is www.projectrecoveryiowa.com .  Please feel free to include this as a link on your website or through your social media venues.
