Linda Washburn, Executive Director
Linda Washburn was selected as the Executive Director of the Glenwood Area Chamber of Commerce on August 16, 1999.
Prior to this position, Washburn was a preschool teacher in the Glenwood Community School District who started Building Bridges Preschool, serving children and their families whom are at-risk. She was the Director of Pooh Corners Preschool in Malvern. She was an advocate for early education for young children. She was a sales representative for Red Oak Office Equipment and a Graduate Assistant at UNO.
As the Executive Director, Washburn has worked within the Glenwood area and Mills County on business retention, business recruitment, keeping our community vibrant through a myriad of committees, challenges faced by small communities in a global economy, retaining and enhancing our quality of life for those who choose to work, play, and do business in our area as well as seeking to attract businesses to choose our area as a great place in Iowa to locate. She coordinates many special projects and events throughout each year that bring recognition, awareness, education, and networking opportunities to Mills County.
Executive Director Washburn has served as President of Iowa Chamber of Commerce Executives, Mills County YMCA Board of Managers, and as a Board Member for Iowa Chamber of Commerce Executives representing Western Iowa, Southwest Iowa Coalition, Loess Hills Chapter American Red Cross, Mills County Storehouse, and Mills, Montgomery, and Cass Counties Empowerment.
Washburn began working in Mills County as a volunteer to find her place within southwest Iowa in 1975, serving on many boards and committees. These invaluable experiences gave her many opportunies to get to know Mills County, its culture, and its people, which has turned out to be a tremendous benefit in her current position. She is a proud to call southwest Iowa “home” and to be from the great state of Iowa.
Washburn is a graduate of Jefferson High School (Cedar Rapids), Iowa State University, and attended UNO for graduate studies. She lives in eastern Mills County with husband, Rob. She has two sons, and two grandsons.
Tana Saddler, Executive Assistant
Tana Saddler joined the Glenwood Area Chamber of Commerce staff in August 2010 as the Executive Assistant. Her prior experience has provided her with excellent customer service skills, special event planning, networking and promotion of tourism in the Glenwood area. As the Executive Assistant she helps build relationships with a variety of individuals and businesses throughout Glenwood and Mills County. Assisting with public relations and marketing duties, her focus is on the needs of the membership, communicating information and opportunity to our members and residents.
Saddler promotes referrals to local residents, newcomers and prospective business visitors through phone calls, letters and emails. Responding to numerous inquiries regarding area businesses, lodging, restaurants, events, human relations, and governmental concerns. She is responsible for all website programs and database updates, calendar of events coordination, The Chamber Connections page; a weekly e-newsletter, and social media management.
Saddler received her certification in Tourism and Hotel Management and managed AAA Travel Agency in Fort Dodge, Iowa before relocating to Milwaukee where she worked as a corporate in-house agent for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. She resigned from the travel industry to stay home and care for her young children. She grew up in the Fort Dodge area and when she is not working she enjoys spending time with her husband, Tim, and four sons.
